Manfred Kernstock
Senior engineer, Hydrodynamics
Manfred Kernstock was born and raised in Vienna, Austria. He is that kind of person people would call a “waterman“. As a big sports enthusiast, most of them were somehow connected to water: competitive swimming, water polo, wave surfing, skiing, snowboarding, sailing – and finally he ended up with kitesurfing. The big amount of hours on all kind of boards as well as his background as an engineer gave him a very special sense on the soles of his feet – which is a fundamental skill of a board shaper.
He never stopped learning and invested a lot of money to reveal the secret of the flow underneath a kiteboard. Manfred is using his high tech flow simulations and invents measurement tools to fill the Bernoulli’s equation with real data.
The outcome is a quite astonishing board line of his kiteboard brand Woodboard, which he established in 2011 – a dream came true.
Manfred started passing his knowledge to the next generation, but still is an enthusiastic kitesurfer, who can’t get enough of the water.
Niklas “Niki” Kernstock
Product development, Logistics
Niki Kernstock was born in Austria and raised directly on the windy westcoast of Lake Neusiedl. Doing sports was very important, even at a young age. But it´s the board sports where his passion really unfolds. Skateboarding, snowboarding, wakeboarding and finally kiteboarding. The goal is to find an unique style on each board and pass it over to the kite.
Shaping boards for Woodboard gives him a huge insight into the industry of kitesurfing. The newest materials and trends are no surprise for him. Next step is to push the state of the art.
Passing knowledge as a kite instructor around the world definitely helps Niki not to loose contact and understanding for the average rider. Flying different kites and visualizing even the simplest movements also helps him in his personal riding, even after 10 years on the water.
Now he is using this knowledge for his competition riding. It seems helpful, as he managed to gain the 2nd place at the Austrian Nationals in Podersdorf 2020.
Victoria “Vicky” Scheibstock
Graphic Design
Vicky is an artist. Already in her mid-20s she had a quite impressive number of exhibitions and her works of art are known across borders.
As a bachelor in architecture, she knows about the effect of shapes and colors on the viewer. When Vicky and Woodboard crossed paths in 2017, it quickly became clear that she was the right person to give the high-end boards an equal look.
It goes without saying that Vicky is a very motivated kite surfer. And trying not missing one session on the windy lake Neusiedl, that gave so much inspiration to the designs of our boards.
Alexander “Alex” Rohl
3D construction
Alex learned kitesurfing in summer 2016 and it changed his life for ever.
When he did his first session he could have never imagined that he would become a full time kite instructor, who spends all of his time at the beach and travels the world to kite and teach wherever he can.
So designing Kiteboards together with Manfred and Niki was a perfect match for him. Now he can use his experience in kitesurfing and as an Instructor as well as his engineering background to create amazing boards for you to ride!
Bibiana “Bibi” Magaji
Marketing, IT
Bibiana was born in Slovakia, grew up in Austria and spent a lot of time travelling the world in the last years. She always had a special connection to nature and loved all kinds of outdoor activities.
After riding her first Woodboard Bibiana didn´t switch to something different so far. Her kitesurfing skills are outstanding. Starting the career in 2009, becoming a kitesurf instructor and a professional sponsored rider, she managed to get the Big Air World Champion title in 2016. Now you could still consider her as one of the highest and most stylish jumping ladies in the world!
But that´s not all. Bibiana successfully graduated from Vienna University of Economics and Business, is running an online shop with kitesurf equipment and founded an emerging web design and online marketing agency few years ago. Now, in addition, she became an essential member of our brand!
Her passion for kitesurfing is unbroken. If there is wind, you can meet her on the water. Practicing some impressive jumps or coaching motivated kiters seeking for progression.
